Caltech Center for Teaching, Learning, & Outreach
Formally started in August 2012 and reporting to the Office of the Provost, the Caltech CTLO supports and connects university teaching and learning with K-12 and public educational outreach under a unified umbrella.
In this way, Caltech faculty can easily access services related to teaching a wide variety of audiences. Caltech students, both graduate and undergraduate, also gain experience designing, delivering, and assessing educational offerings in a variety of settings. These experiences contribute to multi-disciplinary knowledge, communication, mindset as early career role models and mentors, and future success in STEM-related fields.
Options for Learning
Options for Learning, formerly known as Options -- A Child Care and Human Services Agency, started serving children and families in 1981. As a non-profit child care and early learning agency, Options for Learning has been at the forefront of helping families either break the cycle of poverty, or improve their lives, by providing students and families with the tools to create a positive foundation for school, social and life success.
Options for Learning provides child development, child care and after school programs that prepare infants, toddlers, preschool and school aged children for the challenges of tomorrow. Consistently ranked as a top child care and after school program provider in California, Options for Learning's 950+ professionals deliver quality programs designed to provide personalized attention for each student in an enriched, caring environment. Options for Learning also offers training, resources and support to community providers to improve the quality of their care for children.
Options for Learning has grown from a single school age program to a highly recognized agency that today serves more than 15,000 children and families. The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens
A private, nonprofit institution, The Huntington was founded in 1919 by Henry E. Huntington, an exceptional businessman who built a financial empire that included railroad companies, utilities, and real estate holdings in Southern California.
Huntington was also a man of vision – with a special interest in books, art, and gardens. During his lifetime, he amassed the core of one of the finest research libraries in the world, established a splendid art collection, and created an array of botanical gardens with plants from a geographic range spanning the globe. Children & Families Commission of Orange County
The Children and Families Commission of Orange County is a leader in responding to children's needs and supporting programs and policy best practices for children's health and development.
The Commission was created as a result of Proposition 10, the California Children and Families Act of 1998, which added a 50-cent sales tax on tobacco products sold in California and required that funds raised be used to support education, health and child development programs for children from the prenatal stage through age five. Funds collected statewide are allocated to local county commissions based on each county's birth rate.
The Children and Families Commission of Orange County has identified, funded and supported programs with demonstrable positive impacts on children's health and school readiness. Our strong strategic partnerships have allowed us to leverage collective resources to better meet the challenges associated with keeping children healthy and ready to learn.
Our work has been replicated across the state, as we have become known as a reliable, collaborative partner in Orange County, within the First Five community, statewide and nationally.
